Seminar on Health, Hygiene and First Aid for summer camp and skill training 42nd batch

The seminar on health and first aid was conducted on 4th May for the summer camp students and the 42nd batch of skill training students by Mrs. Shabeena Taj, PHCO.

The session covered a wide range of topics related to physical and mental health. Students were given an understanding of the importance of maintaining overall well-being and the role of a balanced diet in daily life. Key adolescent health concerns such as PCOD and hormone imbalance were explained, helping students become more aware of changes occurring during this stage of life.

The resource person also highlighted the importance of vaccination programs such as HPV and polio, along with awareness on serious health conditions like uterus cancer and oral cancer. Emphasis was given to personal hygiene practices, including proper handwashing techniques, and the importance of maintaining food hygiene to prevent illnesses.

Students were educated on diseases caused due to water and food adulteration, and the differences between communicable and non-communicable diseases along with their causes. Information on symptoms of conditions such as blood pressure, diabetes, and gangrene, along with preventive measures, was also discussed.

A significant part of the seminar focused on first aid. Students were trained on how to respond to emergency situations such as choking, snake bites, epilepsy, and road accidents. This practical knowledge helped build confidence among the students to handle real-life emergencies effectively.

The seminar had a meaningful impact on the adolescent students as it increased their awareness about health, hygiene, and preventive care. It also equipped them with essential life-saving skills and encouraged them to adopt healthier lifestyles and responsible behaviors.
