On 5th June, in observance of World Environment Day, a rally was organized under the supervision of the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) in collaboration with various government departments and educational institutions. The rally was inaugurated by Mr. Nagraj Siddappa, Civil Judge and representative of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), and Mr. Saranappa V. Halse, Chairperson of Karnataka State Open University (KSOU). The programme witnessed active participation from students of the College of Horticulture, Mysuru, along with students from other institutions.

In the morning, a World Environment Day programme was conducted at Crescent Urdu Higher Primary School, where awareness was created among students regarding environmental conservation, the importance of tree plantation, and sustainable practices. As part of the programme, saplings were planted within the school premises and at a nearby park in Gandhinagar.

As part of the day’s activities, visits were made to the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) Office, where tree plantation was carried out in the presence of Mrs. Asha, District Child Protection Officer (DCPO), along with the DCPU staff; Mr. Raghu, Childline Coordinator, and his team; and Mr. Bhaskar, Superintendent of the Boys’ Home, along with his staff. Tree plantation activities were also conducted at the Boys’ Home, NR Police Station in the presence of Inspector Raju and SI Mr. Gopala P.S., and at the Primary Health Centre (PHC) with the support of nurses and other staff members. During these visits, awareness was provided on environmental protection, the importance of increasing green cover, and the collective responsibility of safeguarding natural resources for future generations.
