National Girl Child Day at Don Bosco Makkalalaya

National Girl Child Day was observed at Don Bosco Makkalalaya on 24 January with the objective of creating awareness about the rights, safety, and empowerment of the girl child. The programme aimed to sensitize students and staff to the importance of gender equality and the need to protect and promote the well-being of girls.

The event was attended by staff members from various projects, including Mr. Emmanuvel and Mr. Tony from the CSN Project, Mr. Santhosh and Mrs. Swathi from the CFC Project. The speakers addressed the students on the significance of National Girl Child Day and highlighted the challenges faced by girls in society.

While Mr. Santhosh explained the history and background of National Girl Child Day and emphasized the importance of educating and empowering girls to build a just and inclusive society, Mr. Tony spoke about the various laws and policies that protect the girl child and ensure women’s safety, creating awareness among students about their rights and legal safeguards. Other staff members and students also shared their experiences and thoughts, making the session interactive and meaningful.

The programme had a positive impact on the students, as it helped them understand the value of girls’ education, safety, and equal opportunities. It encouraged students to respect and support girls and to stand against discrimination and violence. The session contributed to building awareness, confidence, and a sense of responsibility among the participants.

The programme concluded with a snack, and the day was observed as a meaningful step towards promoting the rights and empowerment of the girl child.
