The inauguration of the 38th Batch Skill Training Programme was held with great enthusiasm and dedication. The event commenced with a heartfelt prayer song performed by the staff members of DBM, a warm welcome speech by a student representative, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the distinguished guests and dignitaries, symbolizing enlightenment and the beginning of a new journey. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Fr. Christopher Mathew, and the Guest of Honour was Fr. Devassy.
Fr. Siju Thomas, the Executive Director of DBM, delivered the words of introduction. He highlighted the significance of making the most of available opportunities. Using the inspiring story of Robin Rockefeller, he motivated the students to seize every chance to improve themselves and achieve success.
Fr. Christopher Mathew, in his speech, emphasized the vision of Mahatma Gandhi to provide vocational training to students. He stressed the importance of having clear goals and determination to achieve them, citing the example of Colonel Richard Sanders, whose perseverance and commitment led to his remarkable success.
Fr. Devassy shared valuable insights on the importance of skill training, particularly for women. He underlined how acquiring skills and securing employment empower women, fostering respect and independence in society.
The students added a vibrant touch to the event with a series of cultural performances, including dances and singing, which were thoroughly enjoyed by the audience. These performances highlighted the creativity and enthusiasm of the participants.
To to mark the beginning of the journey, ID cards were distributed to all the students enrolled in the skill training programme.
