We celebrated World Environment Day at Don Bosco Makkalalaya on 05-06-2024. Fr. Siju Thomas, the Executive Director of DBM, spoke about the theme of this year’s World Environment Day–land restoration, desertification, and drought resilience, emphasizing the importance of growing and protecting plants for a sustainable future.
We then had a “show and tell” activity in which the students explained the nutritional value and medicinal properties of the plants they brought from their homes. The students then exchanged plants and gave some of them to Don Bosco Makkalalaya.
Students learned about the importance of growing native plants and their practical applications, and pledged to start growing more plants in their communities.
